# Ten-minute InMail inbox sweep

From DealGate (https://d-gate.io/blog/what-is-inmail-on-linkedin). Free to copy and share.

Do it on desktop, before you write anything new. LinkedIn's own rules are the map: the InMail filter is messages from people who are not your connections, and a Sales Navigator reply stays in Sales Navigator if you sent the InMail from there.

## The four places

- [ ] Open LinkedIn Messaging. Choose the InMail filter (messages from people who are not 1st-degree connections).
- [ ] Check Focused and Other. Do not stop at the category you usually open.
- [ ] If you use Sales Navigator, open that inbox too. A reply to an InMail you sent from there comes back there, not in LinkedIn Messaging.
- [ ] Sort what you found by age. The oldest unanswered InMail is first.

## When you find one

- [ ] Reply the same working day. One answer, one question.
- [ ] If you need to look something up, send a holding line and note the day you will come back.
- [ ] Do not pitch. They already wrote to you.
- [ ] If it is not a fit, say so in a line and stop.

## What this sweep is not

- [ ] It is not a count of credits to spend.
- [ ] It does not tell you a response rate. LinkedIn has not published how often a received InMail gets opened from this filter.
